Suno Studio explained: what it is for
Plain generation writes a song. Studio takes a song you already have and lets you work on its parts. That line decides which one you want.
The one-line difference
| Plain generation | Studio | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Turns a prompt or lyrics into a finished song | Opens an existing song in a multi-track project |
| Output | Two finished takes per run | An edited version, or extracted parts |
| Best for | Starting from nothing, batch work | Fixing one section, making an instrumental, MIDI |
What you can actually do in it
- Multi-track editing: move, trim and duplicate clips; volume, pan, mute and solo per track.
- Piano roll: change note pitch and timing without regenerating the song.
- Stems and MIDI: split vocals, drums and bass apart, or convert audio into MIDI.
- Export: deliver the finished mix, an instrumental, or individual parts.
What is billed
Anything that produces new audio is billed; changing marks in the project is not. Generating audio, splitting stems, extracting MIDI and rendering a mixdown cost credits. Moving clips, changing volume, muting, writing MIDI notes and adjusting effects do not. Playback is always free.
常见问题 / FAQ
Does muting a track cost anything?
No. Muting is a project change, not a render - but muted tracks are excluded from the export.
How do I export just the instrumental?
Mute the vocal track and export; it is faster than regenerating and costs nothing extra.
Studio or replace-section?
Replace-section regenerates a range and stitches it back; Studio edits the project directly when you need finer control.
